Review : Panique au Village
Posted 14 hours ago

It was one of the most bizarre clips we had that chance of seeing at Movie Con, and had it not been for my attendance to the event, I never would have heard of the film, but I am more than happy that I did.

Last night I got to experience a viewing of Panique au village, a 75 minute insane, Belgian, stop motion animated film from writer / directors Stéphane…

Del Toro wants Cruise for Mountains
Posted 15 hours ago

Reports are comming from Collider that Guillermo del-Toro wants Tom Cruise to lead his HP Lovecraft adaptation of AT THE MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS, but it seems that Universal want James McAvoy.
The story is written in first-person perspective by the geologist William Dyer, a professor from Miskatonic University. He writes to disclose hitherto unknown and closely kept secrets in the hope that he can deter a planned and much publicized scientific…

Dragon VS Aeroplane : New Sucker Punch image

Zack Snyder has proven that he has vision. His films are filled with his auteurist style, but are held back by source material. Now Snyder has got free reign and can bring whatever he likes to the screen.

What you see above is a dogfight. A dogfight between a dragon and an aeroplane. Its just one more notch to add to my antincipationmetre for this film. Sure, its all very cliché…

Joaquin Pheonix: I’m Still Here
Posted 2 days ago

Do you recall hearing about all those odd Joaquin Pheonix stories over the past year or so? You know the ones,  the bizarre appearance on Letterman last year.  The news that he was quitting acting to become a hip-hop star.  THAT beard.

Well you may also recall that his every move was being recorded by his brother in law, Casey Affleck (Gone Baby Gone) for a documentary.

That film is called Joaquin Pheonix:…

Dinner For Shmucks
Posted 3 days ago

Trying to climb the corporate ladder, Tim Wagner (Paul Rudd) agrees (reluctantly) to attend his bosses regular “bring anidiot to lunch” dinner – a so called Dinner For Shmucks if you will.  Naturally he quite literally bumps in Steve Carrell’s Barry – an IRS agent who also specialises in mouse taxidermy (no, really he does) who fills the Shmuck part of the team rather nicely.

The outcome is predictable throughout, from Tim’s…

It's been a while since you've been able to rock up to the box office at your local cinema and request a ticket or two to the new John Carpenter flick. 9 years in fact have come and gone since you were able to see Ghosts of Mars, if any of you did in fact see it in the cinema in November of 2001. Of course Carpenter did Masters of…

Werner’s Future
Posted 10 days ago

Werner Herzog (one of my favourite directors of all time) is a very busy man. His 3D documentary THE CAVE OF FORGOTTEN DREAMS will screen for the first time at TIFF and MY SON, MY SON, WHAT HAVE YE DONE will hit DVD in a few weeks so Herzog is doing the rounds with that film and will surely carry on travelling and talking up a storm about THE CAVE.

Whilst…

Guillermo del Toro producing The Captured Bird.

It has been confirmed that Guillermo del toro will be on-board, producing Jovanka Vuckovic's THE CAPTURED BIRD. Vuckovic was the former Rue Morgue magazine Editor-In-Chief and now is helming her first short movie, one that she will also chronicle online for everyone to see, including videos, blogs and pictures.

From the films' official website:
The Captured Bird is a darkly poetic fable that begins with a little girl drawing figures of people…

Black Widow won’t be alone
Posted 10 days ago

Joss Whedon is an incredible writer. Not only that, he has a gift for writing particularly strong female characters. If you have ever seen the video of Joss' Equlity Now speech, you get something of an insight to why Joss writes the women he writes. (Skip to about 3 minutes in).

Anyway, so, whilst speaking to the The Sunday Herald-Sun Joss managed to drop a few hints at what we might…

Scott’s ALIEN prequel will jump the Bar

Ridley Scott has been talking to the Independent about his films and a little about the ALIEN prequels he is working on. He says that he was never asked to do a sequel to his 1979 original and when James Cameron took over the reigns he really rose the bar and now it is time for him to jump over it. He Says: “The...

Teaser Trailer : Hobo with a Shotgun

Maybe its just me, but I could care less about all this exploitation cinema stuff. I didn’t like Deathproof, I thought Planet Terror was OK, but instantly forgettable. Machete looks like fun, but nothing more and now HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN looks like more of just the same. Anyway, below is the trailer for the film. Maybe...
